My dad is 83 years old and for a long time now has been writing his memories of what it was like for him growing up in Leek, Staffs where he and I were born. His life then was lived much as the Victorians would have lived--cooking on a range, candles in the scullery, gas mantles, no electricity and no indoor bath or toilet. His memories are so detailed it seemed a shame to waste them so here they are, on eight PowerPoints, together with family photographs (to set it all in the context of a family timeline) and original photographs from the Hands on History Museum in Hull. Link to Hands on History Museum Click Here I hope you will find the PowerPoints as useful as I found them enjoyable in the making. My thanks go to my dad Derrick for his memories and old photos and to my sister and my niece Melissa for the new photos they supplied for the timeline.
Click on the pictures to see sample slides. It may take a little while to open some samples--please be patient!
